Techno Firma

Techno Firma is the first artist-driven AI exhibition at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), featuring a monumental interactive sculpture by John Fitzgerald and Godfrey Reggio. Audiences constantly transform a massive prism of moving images to experience how humanity’s growing dependence on technology is reshaping our planet.

This immersive artwork reimagines Godfrey Reggio’s groundbreaking 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi. Using a custom machine learning model created by John Fitzgerald trained on the Reggio Foundation Archive, vast natural landscapes, industrial sites, and cities appear and collapse across three screens on a colossal obelisk. For the first time at PAMM, visitors shape how a digital artwork unfolds through their movement, numbers, and attention. In the gallery, computer vision responds to audience activity, linking participants with worlds and soundscapes in real time. A rocket launch, a factory line, and a forest in retreat all pulse with visitor presence, creating a collective experience of how people—and their use of technology—impact the Earth.

As Miami’s growth as a tech hub makes headlines, Techno Firma reflects regional conversations spanning data centers, climate change, surveillance, and employment. Part immersive installation, part public forum, Techno Firma invites audiences to consider how AI is redefining the ways we live today and our ability to imagine tomorrow.
